Prague became the stage for a world premiere that beautifully intertwined Danish watchmaking aesthetics with Czech heritage. In the baroque halls of the Czech Garnet Museum, the Arcanaut Garnet Goblin was unveiled – the first watch in the world to feature a dial made from genuine Czech garnet.
For nearly a decade, the Czech Garnet Museum has stood among the most visited landmarks of Prague’s Old Town. Within its exhibition, visitors can admire countless historical jewels and artifacts adorned with authentic Czech garnets, some dating back to the mid-19th century. It was here, in the vaulted baroque cellars of the Pötting Palace near Charles Bridge, that Danish watch brand Arcanaut revealed its extraordinary creation. The brand, in collaboration with the Granát Turnov Cooperative, has pioneered a unique dial crafted from a deep crimson composite made of Czech garnet.
The Arc II collection steel timepiece bears the name Garnet Goblin – a nod to the engraved goblin motif on its case back, which symbolically narrates the story of sustainable surface mining of Czech garnet. The gemstone appears solely on the dial, where several hundred tiny stones – each smaller than 0.8 mm – were meticulously clustered and sealed in a transparent binder. Only 66 pieces will be produced worldwide, in partnership with the Czech watch atelier Chronoshop.
During the evening, held in the museum’s intimate underground halls, about fifty guests were treated to the unveiling of a unique gold jewelry set created by Granát Turnov for EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Alongside it, newly designed jewelry collections featuring certified Czech garnets captured the attention of guests. Since 1953, Granát Turnov has been the only cooperative authorized to process Czech garnet, and since 1996, it has also mined it, guaranteeing each piece’s authenticity and origin with certification.
Among the distinguished guests were Pavel Tvrzník, Chairman of the Board of Granát Turnov, and Rob Nudds, Head of Development at Arcanaut, who together officially unveiled the exceptional watch to the audience.
The event’s partners included Chronoshop, the premium tailor Manemo, specializing in bespoke menswear, and the Montblanc Perfume Division. Guests enjoyed wines from the Král vín competition, as well as Swiss fruit brandies from Fassbind. In the baroque ambiance of the museum, Warehouse #1 presented its rare Prune Oloroso Sherry Cask spirit, produced in only 362 bottles exclusively for the Czech market. Guests could also sample Fassbind Vieille Poire (aged pear), Vieille Framboise (raspberry), and Vieil Abricot (apricot) brandies.
Under the patronage of Top Class magazine, the evening became a celebration of watchmaking mastery, jewelry artistry, and culinary refinement – a harmonious tribute to the Czech garnet, the timeless symbol of passion, elegance, and enduring beauty.
